Dr. Scott DustonDr. Scott Duston

Dr. Duston is a native Phoenician. He attended Arizona State University for his undergraduate studies. He went on to Washington State University to earn his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine in 2001. Dr. Duston practiced in the Phoenix Valley for five years in general and emergency hospitals. He completed his internship in Sacramento in 2007 in small animal medicine and surgery. Dr. Duston lived in California for six years and worked in the beach cities of Costa Mesa and Laguna Beach. In the summer of 2012, Dr. Duston returned home to Phoenix and became owner of Agua Fria Animal Hospital. Dr. Duston and his wife Mandy became parents only three days after taking over the practice. North Star Animal Hospital opened its doors to the Estrella community in November 2014. The Dustons look forward to building lasting relationships with clients for many years to come. Dr. Duston has a special interest in dermatology, internal medicine, and dentistry.

Dr. Amy AfekDr. Amy Afek
Dr. Amy Afek is a native Arizonan. She has been an animal lover her entrie life, and dreamt of becoming a Veterinarian since age 12. Dr. Afek graduated from Colorado State University in 2003 and has been employed in the Phoenix area since, joining our team in February of 2015. Dr. Afek works primarily at our sister hospital, Agua Fria Animal Hospital. She currently lives in Buckeye with her family (both human and animal). Dr. Afek has a special interest in animal behavior and internal medicine, and promotes low stress, fear free veterinary care.
Amanda - ReceptionistAmanda – Receptionist
Amanda, or Mandy, is from Milwaukee, Wisconsin but was raised in Arizona. Mandy has worked in the animal medical field for over 20 years. She has three children, and also enjoys reading and traveling. Mandy has one cat named Danny.
Becca - TechnicianBecca – Technician
Becca is a native of Glendale, but is now an Estrella resident and attended Estrella Foothills High School. Becca has three dogs, four cats, and fish. She also has four pet domestic rats.
